You’ve probably heard of binaural beats, and perhaps even ventured into exploring what they sound like. Maybe your experience of them even goes beyond that, or you could be as nascent into your awareness of them as to have encountered mention of them offhandedly here and there.
Either way, it’s interesting to know that what comprises this brainwave entertainment technology, is sounds of differing frequencies played into each ear, which causes your brain to synchronize the frequencies into one singular frequency.
Differing frequencies have varying effects, offering ranges of 1-30 Hz with each range corresponding to a brain wave state; delta, theta, alpha, beta and gamma.
- Reduce anxiety
- Increase relaxation
- Stress relief
- Boost mood
- Pain management
- Increased memory function
- Greater ease with focus concentrating
- Increased creativity
- Mediate with greater ease
- Better sleep
Some of these benefits may seem paradoxical, how can something offer you both better sleep and increased focus? This is because you’d use a beta wave set binaural beats for focus, and a theta or delta wave for sleep. More on that as we focus on each of these brain states individually in the following posts.
